Taxation

Taxation is one of the elements of the companies' competitiveness. Along with the MEDEF and the GFI (Group of Industrial Federations), the UIC campaigns for tax relief and a thorough reform of the tax system crippling French companies. It resists the various obstacles to investments such as local tax on businesses, and encourages research and innovation policies.

Internally, the UIC contributes to the information of member companies on the implementation methods of the French and European taxation regulations. It sometimes represents the business to the fiscal authorities and the arbitration committees and such.

Legal aspects

In the legal field, the UIC works mainly on two issues which are essential to the chemical industry:

  • Competition law, the evolution of which, on the French and European level, has an impact on the companies' decisions concerning merging, horizontal and vertical integration
  • Industrial property law, which is a key element in the chemical manufacturers' strategy, as they deal with research and innovation.

  • The new information and communication technologies.
By putting on-line services and technical skills at the companies' disposal, the UIC helps them master the new technologies and use them for their institutional communications and the development of e-business.
