2008-2009 Sustainable Development Report

When the Responsible Care® Program was founded in Canada in 1985, the concept of sustainable development was only just emerging.  The UIC and the chemical industry were early adopters of this voluntary program.  That’s why the Government approached the UIC to oversee the SusChem (Sustainable Chemistry) platform in 2008 and develop a sustainable chemistry model for France.

The UIC’s second sustainable development report covers the figures and performance of the chemical industry. It also showcases the industry’s sustainable development initiatives.  These are just some of the examples of what the chemical industry is doing today, and show the efforts being made to emerge stronger from the crisis that has hit all industrial sectors since 2008.
