Communications on major hazard sites - Alsace Haut-Rhin

Back in 1987, well before any regulatory constraint, the UIC Alsace Haut-Rhin brought together the companies concerned to produce an initial brochure for the local population. It targeted incidents that could occur on a site as well as
accidents in the transportation of hazardous goods. It was distributed to all households in the Haut-Rhin county.

The brochure was updated in 1992 and again in 1997 to take into account the regulations on major accident hazards (SEVESO directive). It was distributed as part of the "Plans Particuliers d'Intervention" (Special Emergency Plans).

The companies met again in the summer 2001 to develop a new version, and 40,000 copies were printed in December.
At the beginning of this year, it was made available to the media at a joint "Préfecture/UIC Alsace Haut-Rhin" meeting. The companies presented it and handed it over to the mayors for distribution.

The companies also participate in communications sessions in the towns and schools using visual aids on a diskette produced by the UIC Alsace Haut-Rhin.

The full distribution process was completed at the end of the first half of 2002.
